Use KiwiSDR

KiwiSDR receives signals from a remote station over the network. Radio Bench processes the receiver's IQ samples locally for listening and decoding.

Connect to a station

1. Select KiwiSDR in the Source panel.
2. Enter the receiver's listening address in Station URL. Use Find an SDR to open a receiver map in your browser if you need a station.
3. If the station requires a password, expand STATION OPTIONS and enter Password (optional).
4. Select Connect.

Use a direct HTTP or HTTPS listening URL, including its port when required. Do not use the station's administration page. If a link redirects, open it in your browser and copy the final receiver address.

The station chooses the sample rate. KiwiSDR does not show a sample-rate selector or a device Refresh button. Select Disconnect before you change the station URL or choose another saved station.

Save stations

1. Enter the station URL and expand STATION OPTIONS.
2. Enter a Station name and select Save.
3. Choose the station from Saved stations when you want to return to it.

Select a saved station and use Remove to delete it from the list. Open station website opens the receiver's listening page in your browser.

Radio Bench saves station names and URLs. Passwords remain in memory for the session and are not saved. Changing the URL or selecting a saved station clears the password.

Connections identify you to the receiver with your active station profile's callsign, or Radio Bench if no callsign is set. Callsign changes apply on the next connection.

Browse the spectrum

When the station provides a waterfall channel, the spectrum and waterfall can show up to 937.5 kHz. The span control follows the station's available zoom steps.

Pan and zoom to find a signal, then click it to tune the receiver. The display keeps the receive passband visible as you tune. The wider display does not increase the bandwidth of the IQ samples used for listening.

If the remote waterfall is unavailable, Radio Bench shows the receiver's IQ bandwidth instead. Reception can continue with this narrower display.

Resolve connection problems

The station controls access, available receiver channels, and session time limits. A receiver that works in a browser can still have no channels available to applications.

• If access is denied, check the password and the station's access rules.
• If the receiver is full or unavailable, try another station or connect again later.
• If the station ends the session or the connection times out, check its status before you reconnect. Radio Bench does not reconnect automatically.

Network delay can make tuning and audio changes take longer to arrive.
