Supported hardware

Receive with a supported USB, network or IQ WAV source. Add a Hamlib-supported transceiver when you want CAT rig control.

Computers

Radio Bench supports Apple silicon Macs, 64-bit (x86_64) Windows computers, and 64-bit (x86_64) Linux computers. Intel Macs and ARM Linux computers are not supported in 0.8.

SDR sources

Connect a receiver directly over USB, reach one over the network, or replay a recorded IQ capture. Controls adapt to the selected source.

  • Airspy HF+ family

    USB

    Airspy HF+ and HF+ Discovery. The bundled driver also recognises HF+ Ranger; this is driver compatibility, not a separately validated device.

  • RTL-SDR

    USB

    RTL-SDR Blog V3/V4 and other RTL2832U dongles using E4000, FC0012/13, FC2580, R820T/R820T2/R860, or R828D tuners.

  • RTL-TCP

    NETWORK

    Receivers shared by a compatible RTL-TCP server. Supported hardware depends on the server.

  • SpyServer

    Receivers shared by a SpyServer endpoint. Available controls depend on the server and receiver.

    Stereo IQ recordings in 16-bit PCM or 32-bit floating-point WAV format.

Built-in sources for HackRF, Airspy R2/Mini, SDRplay, and general SoapySDR hardware are not currently included. A compatible network server may still expose otherwise unsupported receiver hardware through RTL-TCP or SpyServer.

Rig control through Hamlib

Select your transceiver model and CAT connection. Radio Bench can follow the rig’s frequency and mode, display supported meters, control PTT, and send CW text. Available operations depend on the radio and its Hamlib backend.

Track keeps the SDR and transceiver together while you tune. Fixed leaves the Radio Bench VFO independent.
